Today is our weekly jaunt to our local library. And I want to sing the praises of the library! We have been going every week (except when we are on holidays) for probably 5 years now, and what a blessing that has been.
Because of the library:
- my children caught the reading bug
- I saw my first Creating Keepsakes magazine and caught onto scrapbooking
- we've discovered all kinds of worlds we otherwise will not in the endless stories and encyclopaedias
- we've enjoyed years of free magazines, educational CD Roms, DVD Movies, comics...
- it has become one of our family's favorite pasttime and memories
Make hay while the sun shines
A stitch in time saves nine
A watched pot never boils (Jared used that one on us when we were intently watching him practice a piano piece ;p )
It's no use crying split milk
Look before you leap
While the cat's away the mice will play (they laughed sheepishly at this)
Jack of all trades is master of none (they reminded me of all my multi-tasking at this point)
Great oaks from little acorns grow
All that glitters is not gold
Many hands make light work
Let sleeping dogs lie
Once bitten twice shy
If you've made your bed you must lie on it
How nostalgic! I was delighted at this little time spent with my kids on this lovely book!
And here is a layout of photos we took in the library a few months ago:
Journalling reads: Our family loves to read. But you do not seem to have stopped reading since you started at four! You read while eating, in the car, on the school bus, you always carry a book around in case a 'moment' turns up! Dad caught these scenes at the library - you never even moved, while Jared was climbing, running all around in the background! So glad to have these memories for keeps!
Credits: Sarah Robinsons' Doodle Pad Frames and Total color collection alpha. I did not need anything else - love them! The graphical yet whimsical touch was just what I needed for this layout of my Reader and his brother. I also used Sarah's background paper from the August Collab Kit
As usual, I'd like to share this template because I think the layout worked! I had to replace Sarah's frames with some I made myself, you'll have to go over to Style It Studio to get her lovely ones!
Here's the link, do say hi if you download, I love it when you do! You can get this free template from the store here!
You're very Creative!. Thanks for sahring
ReplyDeleteThank you for the unique template. Your freebie has been featured today at artyouspecial.blogspot.com.
ReplyDeleteYou brought back so many happy memories of mom, my sisters and I going to the library every week. I use to take my kids too, until we moved here. It was a shame that this little town didn't really have a library. They do know, but we are closer to B&N and just go weekly to buy books. Will be looking for the book of proverbs next. Thanks for sharing the book and the freebie.
ReplyDeleteI love the library. I worked in one of our local school's library this summer and had a wonderful time. We had all kinds of reading programs for the children. Some children came in every day. They actually got to take tests on the books they read to get a jump start on their reading requirements for the new school year. It was so fun, we gave them free prizes for making 100 on their tests and after reading 10 books they got prizes too, so the children had fun as well. Best of all it helped them love books and reading. I've always said that the more you read, the smarter you get.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the new template, it's wonderful with your frames in it. :)
Thanks! This looks really cool!
ReplyDeleteYin - So good to see you back. I, too, love the library and books. The layout is really cute. Thanks for sharing your template with us.

ReplyDeleteI really like this layout design. It has such a nice number of photos to show off and plenty of room for journaling and a decorative item or two. We are very fond of our library, too. We've paid a few too many over-due book fines, but that's just us...
ReplyDeleteThank you!
This is wonderful - thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteThis is the first time I have been to your blog so I wanted to say HI and TY for the great template. I too am a book lover and so are my girls. Books are so important and can open the mind to so many possibilities! Special thanks to all library staff, I know how hard it is just to keep my own books on the book shelves, LOL!
ReplyDeleteThanks Yin! Hugs, Lainey

ReplyDeleteHello Yin, and thanks for visiting my blog & your sweet comment. V. nice template, by the way! Its so funny, today we hit the library too, one of my very favorite places in the world. I've always said my secret fantacy would be the librarians closing the place forgetting I'm there (of COURSE with my husband because we are inseperable) and we would spend the night just reading our hearts out. Our librarians are the most wonderful of people, and they even ask us what magazines we might like to see on their shelves when they put their orders in. Here in British Columbia we also have a neat feature where we can download audio books right to our computers, how cool is that! I'll have to see if I can find the book you mention. I've bookmarked you for future visits. :) Barb

ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing this beautiful template. Books and reading has always been important in my family and in my life. I remember that feeling of joy when I visited the local library as a child. In a certain age, around 8-10,I read everything I came across. I still love libraries (and bookshops). Greetings from Sweden.
