A good question & another download link

I've had a great question from Rarole, who asked, the double pages when printed and bound in a photo book - would not the middle pictures be 'lost' in the binding process ? I have to be honest with you, I've not yet printed into photo book any of my double pages! But examining my last photobook printed at shutterfly (no double pages though), I would expect that a bit of the middle will indeed be 'lost', from view. That's why I consciously try to design the pages such that the main photos are not right in the middle. I'm also thinking, when I send the layout to shutterfly to print, that I will size them 11.98 instead of 12 inches, and place them flushed to the outer sides. But I can't recommend that yet till I try it. I intend to print only when I've completed all my US trip photos.

Is there any one who has tried printing double pages into photobooks? Would love to hear from you how you overcome this. Thanks!

I realised that some of you had difficulty downloading over filefront, so here's another link over at 4 shared for template 36. here

Gotta run, school starts monday and we are getting ready. My mom just came back from visiting my brother in the US and brought back my latest photobook from shutterfly, the one about Everyday life - I'm so pleased with it!!

i print double pages in photo books, but I resize to 8x8 and it's printed on 8.5x11 so there's printer margin. also we do the plastic binder things so you don't loose the middle.

but even so I don't use templates where the photo or any element other than a ribbon will cross the page line because it's hard to divide, cutup, lineup to send to printer.

  2. I've printed a few of your double page layouts in a shutterfly book. I just made sure that I put a photo there that could be cropped but still viewable. It does crop a little and because it's right on the binding it doesn't open all the way. It still looked great though!

I also have printed double layouts in a Shutterfly book. I made sure that the picture I put in the middle wouldn't look strange or distorted when it printed, and it's fine. They do a great job on minimizing the gutter. And the trim on the outside really is tiny; I made my canvas 12" and the background 11.75", and it worked just fine. Your frames went all the way to the "edge" and when it was printed, they went to the edge of the trimmed page, too.

  6. I absolutely love your designs!!! Would you consider designing more single pages? I guess I'm not really sure how to print a double page to put in an album.

  7. I print my layouts but I put them in traditional scrapbooks...so if a photo is split between two pages it is "distanced" from each other... so I do like a picture to be complete on one page. Thanks for asking.

  8. Like Sharon, I put mine in traditional posted scrapbooks, so there is no problem for me.

  9. Ladies and Yin,
Thank you all for helping me in this. I have made photobooks before - but not with double pages. I love Yin's templates (great inspiration and lots of photos) but could not imagine getting those middle pictures cut out in the binding. I will try all of your suggestions on my next attempt. Again, thanks. And Thanks Yin, for answering my question!

  10. I would be interested to know if your method works for the DP with shutterfly. I have yet to make a book but would like to do some of the pages double paged.

  11. Hi Yin, yes I've printed your templates in photobooks and they turn out great. Your templates are very easy to use, because all the photos that are in the middle are only for a small part on the left or right side. So I choose a photo to place there that has the focus on the large part that will be most visible. Of course a bit gets lost, but that's no problem, because I place the not so important parts where they will be lost a bit.

  12. Another great template, I can't wait to get started on this one! Thank you so much. I don't print photobooks, but I do print 12x12 pages and use in traditional post bound books. There is a small separation between the pages, but I don't mind--I'd rather use a creative template like this and have the separation than not!

  13. I didn't order shutterfly since the price was same as photobook here (incl. shipping), but the whole book was 2 pages LO, which..yes some of it in the middle gets chopped off. I guess the only way to avoid it is not to put text and photo too near to the middle

  15. Hello Yin! I just found out about your wonderful bog and store from a fellow member at the jessicasprague.com site.

I REALLY like your mulit-photo templates as they would be perfect for the many vacation photos I have. However, I do not have a paypal account and am wondering if there is another way I can purchase our templates? I do have a Visa credit card or could use a money order (though not sure how that would work in Singapore).

Thanks for sharing your wonderful creativity with us :) !
